Palm Harbor Academy teaching methods respond to the unique learning style of each individual, especially styles and materials related to gender. Learning styles are addressed by differentiated instructional techniques in every classroom. Traditional basic academics with standard texts and innovative teaching methods are used.
Differentiated Instruction
Honors all students regardless of ability.
Direct Instruction
Emphasizes drills and practice with immediate
feedback; lessons precisely sequenced; fast paced;
and well rehearsed by the teacher.
Curriculum Based Measurements
Involves frequent assessment of student progress in
learning the objectives that make up the curriculum. This
allows for quick adjustments in teaching methods and gives the student
a better chance to achieve stated outcomes.
Content Enhancement
Teachers will use some of the more promising content
approaches including guided notes, anchoring tables and other
types of graphic organizers, mnemonic strategies, other task specific learning strategies, and physical guides
Multiple Intelligences
Faculty will be trained in the theories of multiple intelligences-Gender and Learning
Styles, Hearing, Pleasing Adults, Context, and Small-group Learning.
